Aragorn

Aragorn II was born to Arathorn and Gilraen in year 2931. He was raised in the household of Elrond, who became his foster father, as Arathorn had been killed by trolls when his son was but two years old. There he was named Esthel, and only in 20 years Elrond revealed his true name to him. Elrond also told Aragorn that he was the last heir of Isildur and gave him the family treasures – the ring of Barahir and the broken sword of Elendil. After that, Aragorn became one of the Rangers of the Wild, and spent almost seventy years fighting Sauron’s servants and minions and serving both to Thengel King of Rohan and Echtelion the Steward of Gondor. In 2980 he led the assault on Umbar, and the larger part of the fleet of the Corsairs was destroyed. In 2956 he met Gandalf the Grey, and their friendship lasted for many years, until the mage departed into the West.

In 3017 he captured Gollum and took him to Lorien into the charge of the Silvan Elves. In a year, he met Frodo Baggins in the Prancing Pony and helped his escape the Nazgul into Rivendell. He was chosen as a member of the Fellowship of the Ring and accompanied Frodo to the falls of Rauros on the Great River, where their ways parted.

Aragorn then took part in the defense of Hornburg (Helm’s Deep) against the forces of Saruman, summoned the Oathbreakers on the Path of the Dead, captured the fleet of Umbar and broke the siege of Minas Tirith. There his ancestry was revealed, and he was crowned as King Elessar Telcontar, the ruler of Gondor and Arnor. His beloved and wife was Arwen Undomiel, fairest of Elf-maidens, daughter of Elrond, who abandoned her immortal fate for the sake of her love for him. His reign lasted for 120 years, ending in year 120 of the Fourth Age.
