Farmer Maggot

When Frodo was a young hobbit still in his tweens, he used to take to Farmer Maggot’s fields with some friends and pick his mushrooms. They feared Maggot more than anything in the world, for he kept three huge ferocious dogs – Grip, Fang and Wolf, who were always on the lookout for trespassers. But when Frodo and his friends had to get across Brandywine, not only did the farmer put them up for the evening and lend them a wagon, but also supplied them with a basket of fresh mushrooms.
