Brandybuck Meriadoc

A hobbit from the Shire, son of Saradoc Brandybuck, born in year 2982 of the Third Age. Just like Pippin, Meriadoc joined Frodo and his other companions on their fateful journey to the Cracks of Mount Doom. He took part in the council of Elrond, traveled with the Fellowship through Moria, Lothlorien and down the Anduin, where at Tol Brandir he was captured by a host of Uruk-hai from Isengard. By sheer stroke of luck both Pippin and Merry made an escape near Fangorn, and were there welcomed by Treebeard. Merry and Pin managed to convince Treebeard to lead the Ents on an attack of Saruman. They witnessed the fall of Isengard, and afterwards swore an oath of loyalty to Théoden (Merry) and Denethor (Pippin). Both were loyal in their service, and took part in the battle of the Pelennor fields, where Merry played a significant part in the downfall of the Witch-king of Angmar.

After the war was over, Merry and Pippin joined their friends on a journey north to the Shire. They sparked up a rebellion that overthrew Sharkey (Saruman) and returned freedom to the Shire. Meriadoc went on to marry Estella Bolger. 12 years after his father’s death he was elected Chief in Buckland and held the position up until the year 64 of the Fourth Age. He was also appointed advisor of the renewed kingdom of Arnor. In year 64 Merry and Pippin again left the Shire and journeyed first to Rohan and then to Gondor, where they both passed away and were buried with great honors along with the most famed of Gondor’s kings.
